Shifting Gears Challenge

Every May, workplaces in the Peterborough area are encouraged to participate in the Shifting Gears Challenge.   This year, the challenge has expanded to be a community challenge and there is still a workplace component.  The idea is to get as many employees signed up as possible and for the month of May, they walk, cycle, rollerblade, carpool to work or do telework.  The organizers have made co-ordinating this event a breeze.  Everything is online and employees sign up themselves.  Employees can log their trips on-line and, as the co-ordinator, you simply need to send reminders out occasionally.  Prizes are awarded to  individual participants and workplaces.  Additional events take place throughout the month that support these employees.  For example, in the past, free bike tune-ups have been offered.  For more details about the Challenge including downloable resources, visit the Peterborough Moves website:  http://www.peterboroughmoves.com/shiftinggears.  It’s a great way to be physically active while helping the environment.
